As the representative of ba2, I once worked as a planner at an automotive company.
When I visited South Africa, on the other side of the world, I saw posters of Japanese sports cars on local walls. If one drove by in the city, everyone would follow it with their eyes. In a place with different languages and cultures, Japanese cars had that much power.
It is now not uncommon for foreign visitors to Japan to head straight for Daikoku Futo and Japan's motor culture.
On the other hand, I felt that there were still very few goods and art pieces themed around Japanese cars. And I also felt that it was too much of a waste to keep it only for a select few car enthusiasts.
I wanted to create art that takes beloved Japanese sports cars as its motif, incorporates geometric patterns, and has a modern finish, in a way that can reach a wider audience.
With respect for Japanese automotive culture and a wish for its further development.
By combining this with handmade leather goods by serious Japanese craftsmen, I hope it will contribute to the development of both motor culture and Japan's leather industry.
